biography
Linda Lorrie Gross, (Lor), combines wood, leaf and reed with assorted other materials to create sculpture and sculptural tableaux.
She has adapted traditional art techniques and motifs and reinterpreted them using the invasive plants that flourish with the changing climate.
Those plants are her muse. Not only do they inspire her with their form, gestures, colors, and textures but they have stories to tell about their roles, both functional and aesthetic in other cultures.
Lor’s use of these natural materials is a true collaboration with nature. Each natural element is given respect and consideration , enhancing its natural beauty.
She is also drawing attention to the relationship between humanity and nature,
“ implying that we have become too distant from our environment and hinting at the kind of nostalgia we might one day feel for the beauty of ordinary weeds.”
